Luke 5:1-9.... So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
GOD CREATED US TO LIVE IN EXPECTATION OF HIS GOODNESS.
What you believe about God will affect your life, your family, and your future. Your view of God’s nature will shape your expectations about His goodness and favor in life. When you have the right view of God’s nature, it shapes your thinking, expectations, and faith...and it helps you respond correctly to attacks and adversity.
Psalm 27:13-14... I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
Expect God’s healing when you are sick.....
Expect God’s provision when you have a bill to pay......
Expect God’s mercy when you make a mistake....
Expect God’s wisdom when you don’t know what to do......
Expect God’s favor on every part of your life...
The goodness of God causes you to live in confidence that no matter what others do...God can turn it around for you.
Genesis 50:20... “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but god meant it for good, in order to bring about as it is this day, to save many people.”
Declare it today... “Before this is over—you will see the goodness of God on display in my life!”
Key principle from Joseph’s life... He learned to keep his focus and expectations on God and His goodness and not his disappointment in others.
If we remain focused on the goodness of God He has a way of turning the very thing we once thought was going to be our grave into a platform for grace!
Someone who is always looking in their past and trying to “get even” simply can’t guard what is in the present or protect what may be in store for the future...
God can cause all things, even evil attacks, to work for His glory and the good of those who love
