Worship Through Giving
Sunday, November 11, 2018

2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Timothy 6:17-19... “ Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

Worship is expressed through courageous generosity. Giving is an act of worship...

We love God with our money when we treat it as his, not ours, and send it out to the things He loves.

Money is not evil... The obsession with money is evil.

Why? Because it is idolatry. It is the worship of the creation rather than the creator.

We don’t worship money...we worship God with our money.
 Deut. 8:18- “
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God, for it is He that giveth

thee the power to get wealth.

My giving is my way of remembering...

We love people with our money when we heal and repair lives with it.

The material blessings we enjoy from day to day are temporary, but the spiritual blessings available to us in Christ encompass time and eternity, as well as material and immaterial things.

Worship through giving is a Kingdom principle that releases abundance and prosperity into the lives of people, businesses, and churches.

There are battles of old habits, wrong thinking, the attack of the devil, and spiritual power working against them, hindered because of seeing abuse of money by leaders or churches or TV evangelists. People are bound by fear and mistrust of pastors and preachers

It is the misuse and abuse of money that is destructive- not the money itself. Floods drown many people- but water is necessary for life.

We will worship through our giving.

Money is a tool for good or evil. Money in the hands of a drug dealer can corrupt young lives. Money in the hands of a God called youth pastor can rescue young lives from corruption. God wants money in the hands that use it for good and worship Him

John Maxwell... “My prayer at sixty was: Lord, as I grow older, I would like be known as, available--rather than a just a hard worker; compassionate-- more than competent; ...generous--instead of rich, and sacrificial--instead of successful. I want to be a foot washer!”

We can use our money to worship God and wash feet.

Having money doesn’t make you great, what you do with it can make you great!

No seed grows if you plant it in something smaller than itself. The point of planting is to sow into something bigger than you.
