In this passage, Paul wants to emphasize this truth: that righteous living is not how we earn salvation but the evidence of it. If we are to truly be a church committed to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, it will only be because of God’s grace—grace which we have received by faith in Jesus and grace that is being worked in us by his Spirit.
