Tom Penders is responsible for building the foundation for what Texas Men's Basketball has become. Hired in 1988, Penders instantly resurrected the Longhorns program with an up tempo style referred to as the "Runnin' Horns", leading Texas to the NCAA Tournament for the 1st time in a decade.
Penders told some stories about how he and his wife Susie marketed the program across Austin when they arrived. And, the attendance at the Erwin Center reflected that, a drastic increase.
In fact, 8 of 10 Penders' coached Texas teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He concluded his career as a college basketball coach with 648 wins and was recently inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame
Penders' son, Tommy was a point guard during 1990s and was a part of three Southwest Conference championships.
Tommy recently completed his 13th season as the head coach of the Clear Lake High School Boys Basketball program, a highly successful program.
In segment two, the conversation switched the Final Four, Kansas and North Carolina, which will play for the men's national title Monday night.
