Meet Denny Chipollini!
30 Years ago Denny was living a life like every other person. He had a kid on the way and was trying to get ready for this new challenge.
One day on his way home, his car hydroplaned into a guard rail.
Without realizing it, he knew he was alive but, the shock didn't begin until he realized his left leg was severed from his body. The pain hit him like a ton of breaks and with the help of some bystanders, he was able to get to the hospital.
Doctors tried for months to help Denny keep his legs, but an everlasting infection, was trying to prevent that. He knew he didn't want to be hospitalized forever, so he gave doctors permission to amputate his leg so he can move on.
With the grim news, that walking again was never going to possible, Denny just said, "you'll see"
Fast forward a few years, Denny had finished three marathons and some triathlons!
A true achievement for his will not to give up!
But, darkness lurks in every corner.
#phantompain is one of the most painful things that anyone can experience and with lack of knowledge about opioid addiction, Denny was hooked.
It wasn't until over 20 years later, that he realized what they were doing to him, from losing his teeth to having horrible bowels.
He had to quit, but he had to show his brain that it wasn't worth it, so he did it cold turkey.
This will to live and this understanding that he couldn't live on opioids forever is the true passion and purpose of Denny.
He only wishes that others take this passion and push through being uncomfortable because only then can you truly live.
