If you just accept whatever government says, and act like a doormat, don't be surprised that your government wipes its feet on you.
If the public acts like a doormat, don't be surprised that the police wipe their feet on the members of the public.
Mahatma Gandhi is a wonderful, inspirational example for your consideration. He practised and urged, successfully, millions of Indians to practice civil disobedience in the fight for India's independence.
