The relationship we have with ourselves shapes our daily experiences profoundly. If we do not accept ourselves for who we are and feel that we can only be “enough” if we reach certain standards, we are bound to a life of suffering. 

A deep feeling of not ‘being enough’ creates a tense way of living. There is always something that we need to do to feel worthy. Even if we can live up to our standards, that feeling of being worthy will not last long, for we know that the future may present countless situations for us to fall short. Hence, we continue striving to become that person we believe we should be.
