Think of service as generosity with your time and energy. God gives us the gift of service as a means to practice living in a Christ-like way.
The service we render to others in the body of Christ is considered by God as service to Himself. He sees it and promises us He will give us great reward after we are raised when Christ returns Matthew 10:40-42.
