Chief Constable Ian Hopkins of Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that a total of four suspects had been taken into custody as he briefed the press on the Manchester Arena attack investigation outside the GMP force headquarters on Wednesday.
He also confirmed that his team had spoken to immediate family members of all the deceased and that one of the victims was a serving police officer. Due to family wishes, he reframed from making any further comments about the officer.
"I think it's very clear that this is a network that we are investigating" said the chief constable, adding[the investigation] continues at a pace, there's extensive investigations going on and activity taking place across Greater Manchester as we speak".
Manchester police reported that 22-year-old Salman Ramadan Abedi responsible for suicide attack which killed 22. A total of 59 people were hospitalised and 60 were treated by paramedics at a pop concert in the Manchester Arena Monday evening. The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) has claimed responsibility.
