As we see the return of the Bundesliga, many have been met with complete and utter shock to see the defending champions, Bayern Munich, start off their year with a defeat to 12th placed Gladbach. Although Bayern is currently experiencing a breakout of COVID, which sees them having a somewhat depleted roster, a star-studded lineup was still the order of the day. Although Gladbach were clearly dominated, luck was on their side as Stefan Lainer struck Gladbach in front in the 31st minute. A strong defensive effort was shown by the away side in the second half, seeing that match out 2-1.
