Our ego, left unchecked, will run rampant with delusions of grandeur. It’s so soothing to genuinely believe that I am better than others, I am successful, important, incredibly talented and more than that- the way I am now will last forever. In this candid shiur, Rabbi Shafier picks apart the anatomy of arrogance, showing us where our thinking becomes illogical and driven by our need to feel good about ourselves. Does that mean we should negate our abilities and squash our victories? Absolutely not. But as Torah Jews striving to live an authentic life, we have a responsibility to get real about ourselves and start acknowledging that our talents are gifts from Hashem, given to us to fulfill our role in this world.
