Over 50 children in the north west have nowhere to call home here.

The monthly homeless figures, published on Friday, revealed the highest numbers of people living in emergency accommodation in May.

Figures show there were 170 adults in the north west accessing emergency accommodation at the end of the month.

91 of them were registered in Sligo, 56 in Donegal, and 23 in Leitrim. 109 of which were male, and 61 were female.

While there were 22 families listed as homeless across the region last month.

Nationally, 15,747 were registered as homeless, an increase of 11 percent compared to last year.
