Serious concern has been raised over confirmation from a Sligo-Leitrim TD that her lobbying efforts has secured much-needed surgical hub for Sligo.
On Friday, Minister Marian Harkin confirmed that the decision to site the surgical hub in Sligo formed part of her negotiations during the Programme for Government.
What has been described as ‘a constructive meeting’ previously place between the Minister for Health and a delegation of Consultants and General Practitioners from Donegal.
The meeting was arranged by the Minister in response to 171 clinicians calling for a pause and a review of the decision to select Sligo for the site of a new surgical hub in the north west.
Donegal-based GP, Pádraig McGuinness says there remains an urgent for such a facility in Letterkenny.
