A leading medical professional in the North West has urged parents to ensure that their children have received vaccinations.

The warning from Dr Anthony Breslin comes as parents are urged to watch out for symptoms of RSV as cases rise during peak season.

The virus is the leading cause of respiratory infections in babies, with most children infected by age two.

A new antibody vaccine is now available to protect new-born’s and has already shown strong results.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, the Director of Public Health with the HSE in the North West, says parents should ensure eligible babies receive the vaccine.
