An investigation is continuing after a young boy died after getting into difficulty in the water at Lissadell Beach yesterday afternoon.
A multiagency operation was launched, including the Sligo Bay RNLI and Rescue 118.
The boy was taken from the water and airlifted to Sligo University Hospital in a serious condition but has since passed away.
Local Cllr Donal Gilroy has been praising the swift response of the emergency services and says the community are totally shocked what has happened.
