Ballyduff Drama Group snagged the top award at the RTÉ All-Ireland Drama Festival Awards 2025 with their performance of ‘The Blackwater Lightship’ by Colm Tóibín, adapted for stage by David Horan.
The announcement was made at the spectacular awards ceremony which was held in Athlone's Radisson Blu Hotel this past weekend, and marked Ballyduff's third All-Ireland win in the past past four years.
The group's adaptation of the 90s set drama explored the struggles faced in Ireland during the HIV/AIDs crisis and received widespread praise.
Winner of Best Director Ger Canning and chairman of the Drama Festival Awards Hugh Collins spoke to Damien this morning on 'Deise Today' about the hard work and dedication involved in the prosperous Drama scene in Ireland.
