I sit down with Dr. Miiko Rowley, a Financial Analyst turned Physician who ultimately found her calling in Functional Medicine. Dr. Rowley began her amazing career studying overseas in Japan as a financial analyst but soon realized that the work she was doing, while important to others, did not fulfill her. Determined to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a physician, she made the bold decision to go back to school. Before entering medical school, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. During an ER visit, she encountered a resident physician whose lack of compassion reinforced her belief that she could make a difference in the field of medicine. Undeterred by her diagnosis, she forged ahead, knowing that becoming a physician was her true path. After completing medical school, Dr. Rowley began working in urgent care to gain experience and financial stability while training in functional medicine. Although certification is not required in this field, she sought to deepen her expertise to ensure she could provide the highest level of care. Before completing her certification, she learned about a physician in Houston who had been looking for over a year to sell an established functional medicine practice with a patient base of over 100. Recognizing the opportunity, she stepped into ownership, taking on a leadership role and fully embracing her purpose. Today, she runs a thriving practice, proving that resilience, vision, and a commitment to one’s passion can lead to a deeply fulfilling career. - - - -
