Are you speaking a foreign language using plain English?  We can take for granted, because of our own familiarity, everyone understands when we are using a common industry acronym or term.  The risk is - THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.  Or maybe even worse, they thing they know what you are talking about and you think they understand and you both leave mutually mystified.
