We rarely get to witness the beginning of a project, the first words being written of a new novel, the first chords of a song in progress. Today as we open Acts 1, we stand with the risen Jesus and the disciples on the cusp of something we are experiencing here, on the other side of the world, 2000 years later: the church - God's people gathered around his word, indwelt by his Spirit, giving thanks and sharing the good news of Jesus ... the Christ.
