"Each time a person stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends out a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centres of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." -- Robert Kennedy
We start to learn how to create those ripples by studying Andrew Harvey's book The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism.
As with affirmative prayer, we must practice turning away from present conditions and learn to embody a calm, expectant manner. We must not fall into a stance of anger or we inadvertently create more of the situation we are trying to change. We can create hope and then change the world because the Divine is in us.
"It is our very fear of the future that distorts the now that could lead to a different future if we dared to be whole in the present." -- Marion Woodman
