- A key thing around aligned content marketing is that you don't want to talk about education and knowledge around your business 24/7. You want to build trust with your community. Content pillars allow you to spread out who you are and help your audience understand the very multifaceted person that you are. They give your audience a chance to work out why they should trust and work with you over somebody else. Not in a sense of competition, but more around what makes you stand out. What is your secret sauce? What makes you different?
- If the idea of sharing certain parts of yourself online makes you break out in a sweat because you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, just know that it's normal. This fear that you feel is some form of trauma response. "But I've never experienced things like abuse, violence or war," I hear you say. Well, you might be surprised to learn that trauma can also stem from emotions and experiences that have left us feeling alone, or left a really bad taste in our mouths. These negative experiences are what make us feel unsafe, stopping us in our tracks. I shared some helpful insights on how I reframe my thoughts around these fears.
- Maybe you've been approaching your content in a transactional marketing, slot machine kind of model, with thoughts like, "I'm gonna post this, and then I want to get three signups in my new program, or three calls booked by the end of tomorrow." You then get so discouraged when your post gets crickets. This episode serves to remind you that when it comes to creating content, it's never one piece of content that's going to make or break you. What matters is your content as a whole.
