Listen

Description

In this episode you'll meet Susan Rudd who served as a WAC during WWII. You'll also meet a bunch of other strong, feisty women who changed history. Susan ran away from home with her best friend Roselle to join the Women's Auxiliary Corps (WAC). She was stationed in California and Arizona where she trained pilots on the Link Flight Simulator. She also describes how her time in the Army changed her life for the better. Susan is 100 years old and currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC.

Soldier's Heart is written and produced by me, Cyndi Briggs, and features veterans stories from North Carolina. We honor vets by listening to their stories. You can follow along on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook at Soldiers' Heart NC.
