Mr. Henry Wilson served in the United States Army during World War II. As an African-American soldier, he was drafted not into the infantry, but into an engineering dump truck company, hauling troops and supplies, rebuilding roads and bridges, and de-fusing mines. He saw significant combat in France, Belgium, and Germany. He also experienced racism and brotherhood, both, with the troops in the Army. After the war, he worked for RJR and lived in Winston-Salem. His proudest achievement is volunteering with the Tarheel Boys' State and helping young people thrive. Mr. Wilson was interviewed on January 20, 2016, at his home in Winston-Salem by Cyndi Briggs.
