Publisher's Summary:
Nigel Dorking's parents are divorced, and his father has remarried and has two stepdaughters. Nigel is a lonely, precocious child who idolizes his absent father and longs to have more to do with him, but he has a bed-wetting problem and is anxious to hide the fact from his dad. That's not his only problem though: his mother is about to marry a man Nigel detests, a large, loud Scottish man called Gordon. Things are further complicated by Ivan, Nigel's little brother, who is profoundly disabled and utterly dependent. Gradually, Nigel comes to realize that his father, the man he hero-worships, is a failure as a father, and it is Gordon who deserves his affection and trust.

Editorial Reviews:
Funny, heartwarming, and sad, I, Nigel Dorking tells the story of a gifted boy going through a tough time after his parent's divorce. His mother is about to marry a man he hates, his father is ignoring him, his younger brother is profoundly disabled, and he can't stop wetting the bed. For all that, the book is much funnier than you might expect, and the final result is deeply moving. Performer Jasper Garner Gore does an excellent job capturing the precocious, self-serious Nigel and the assortment of strange characters around him, while whimsical music brightens the story.

Critic Reviews:
"It's a funny book. But also warm, wise, sharply observed, meticulously executed and, at times, deeply moving." (Herald-Sun)
