Part 1:
We talk with Chris Lehmann, DC Bureau Chief for The Nation magazine.
We discuss the concept of 'democratic socialism', and how this seems to scare the Democratic party's leaders. The implication of Mamdani's nomination, and the lack of support from the party's leaders is telling. What should be the party's relationship to its corporate donors, and to its consultants?
Part 2:
We talk with Emma Janssen, Writing Fellow at The American Prospect.
We discuss the union-building efforts of nurses and medical professionals at the Unity Point Hospitals in Iowa. The union-building efforts are a response to the dangers that medical professionals and their patients face at work. The hospitals are spending millions of dollars to fight the unionizing, because they do not want to spend relatively much less to provide safety policies and measures to ensure the safety of the employees and patients.
