The Notes from the Podcast
God bless you. Below are all the Scriptures written out so you can follow along with the podcast "The Power of Ministries."
Acts 10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him."
The devil uses negative power to oppress people. Jesus Christ uses the power of the spirit to do good and to heal people.
2 Corinthians 12:7 – 10 " And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."
Ephesians 3:7 "Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power."
All Ministries are given for the benefit of the one body. It is the working of the spirit of God.
Romans 12:4 – 8 "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness."
It is clear here that every believer has a Ministry of service. We should be doing our ministry of service.
There are so many things that people can do and do with their Ministry of Service. Here are some examples that I see in our local fellowship. I see the advantage of home fellowships as ministering to one another easily in our small group. There are also Ministries that people have. Some have a ministry to go to Africa or to help the street people and the poor. Some do food pantries and many other things. Whatever God works in your heart to do is what you should do.
There should be no judging. You decide what you will do. One thing I usually use to help me make a decision is concern, interest, and need. What do you have a concern or interest in? To help you make those decisions, there are two sections in God's Word very close to one another.
1 Corinthians 6:12 "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
1 Corinthians 10:23 "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not."
These two scriptures are to be used for the individual believer, you. Not to judge others.
Acts 11:17 "Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?"
This is the same gift, the gift of service. Some translations say it is the exact same gift.
Another thing to consider is that we don't have to be concerned about the labels of our gifts. In Corinthians, one gift is called "helps." You can't get more vague than that. What God works on our hearts to do in service to others needs not be labeled; it is your gift of service.
1 Peter 4:10 – 11 "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 4: 10 – 11 Moffatt "You must serve one another, each with the talent he has received, as efficient stewards of God's varied grace; if anyone preach as one who utters the words of God; if anyone renders some service, it must be as one who is supplied by God with power-so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. The glory and the dominion are his for ever and ever: Amen."
When thinking about our gifts of service. God gets glorified through Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
With the spirit, we have power. Power to be effective witnesses as we operate the manifestations and utilize our gifts of service to others.
1 Corinthians 2:4 & 5 " And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
We use the power of God, not the excellence of worldly wisdom, in speech and words. I watch out for a good speech. We have to look at the words and what they are saying. Hitler was an expert in good speech. Good speech isn't always Godly.
Ephesians 1:19 -23 "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."
Colossians 1:27 – 29 " To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily."
Christ in you is another way of saying the spirit in you. We have the power of the spirit within us. Christ within us which works in all of us. We've got the power.
May God bless you Abundantly!
