We humans take pride in our strength and independence. We don’t want to rely on anyone or anything for help. While it may seem like an admirable character trait, being self-reliant can lead to our spiritual downfall. As Pastor Terry warns in today’s message, the longer we harden our hearts towards the Gospel, the harder it gets to accept our weakness and vulnerability. It’s only when we acknowledge that we can’t do this on our own that we will be ready to allow Christ to take over and infuse us with His strength and righteousness.
