While Jesus did give Peter authority as a leader and founder of the Church, He was not the foundation of the Church. He couldn’t have handled it. No human could. Only Jesus could offer steadfast peace and hope strong enough to hold up this body of faith. Jesus is the rock on which the Church is built. As Pastor Terry will clarify in today’s message, while God uses men in positions of leadership in His Church, if our faith is based solely on their leadership, we’re bound to fail.
