As Pastor Terry examines the words of Jesus regarding water baptism, we can start to piece together a more complete understanding of the meaning and significance of this act. It is not a requirement for salvation, but it is commanded by Jesus for those who have already been saved. This public act is a beautiful reflection of what Christ has done for our souls. We were once slaves to sin until we died to ourselves and threw off that old nature. And just as we are pulled up from the water, Christ raised us up into new life through His redemptive blood.
