If eternal life could be earned simply by performing a clearly described act or work, there likely would be few people who would miss out on it. Just like the young man in today’s story, everybody wants Heaven, but we want to earn it our way. As Pastor Terry will point out in today’s message, the answer this young man received wasn’t what he was hoping for. He hoped for a one-and-done type answer - follow this rule or do this deed - but God requires perfection that can’t be attained by human efforts.
