The Bible contains several accounts that heavily rely upon the reader's understanding of the historical context at the time of the events. In the case of Jesus being asked if He thought taxes were lawful, it can be fairly easy for us to miss the significance and cleverness of the question. In today's message, Pastor Terry helps us to gain a better understanding of this polarizing question that was intended to make Jesus contradict Himself. In our study, we learn that while this was a rather clever attempt at tricking Jesus, not even the wisest person has a chance at fooling God.
