In the New Testament, Jesus is about to ascend back into heaven after His time on earth, serving with His disciples. Jesus tells the disciples that there will be a helper for them since He is leaving. He calls this helper the Holy Spirit... And that's exactly what the Holy Spirit is, a helper. It helps to guide us towards Jesus and His Word and away from things that would be contrary to the way of the Lord.
