Imagine you’ve been given a new car. The car is yours. Of course in our world, there’d be taxes and registration, but for the sake of illustration, imagine there’s no payment necessary. What will you do with it? Will you cover it and park it in a garage somewhere? It’ll look good, but if you don’t ever drive it or maintain it, it’s not going to run like it’s supposed to, if at all. In a way, this is like our faith. As Pastor Terry will point out, you can keep your faith with very little work, but for it to be healthy, it requires regular maintenance.
