Not one thing about Jesus’ arrest or trials was fair, or according to the law and custom of the land and leaders. Not even the worst criminal was treated as unfairly as Jesus. However, as Pastor Terry explains today, Jesus was sovereignly in control of every moment. He restrained his power, denied the temptation to administer justice and willingly submitted to it all. He knew that this was the only way to accomplish God’s right judgement against sin, and to demonstrate a great love and mercy to all people.
