When a child tries to cover up a wrong they have done, it's usually futile. Often, you already know what they have done before they even try to cover it up. It can even seem comical to see a child try to pull the wool over an adult's eyes. And yet, we try to do the same with God. Sometimes we might avoid coming to God altogether.
