Ezekiel 4-5
We will see Ezekiel's first assigned "sign act," in which he makes a model of Jerusalem and acts out God's refusal to help them because of their idolatry and rebellion. This message wasn't just meant to scare them - it was meant to convict them and lay the groundwork for their repentance. This is always the way it is with God. He warns of the consequences of sin, but he does so as a mercy; then, when we suffer, we have a chance to remember and repent. His goodness always preserves a remnant for undeserved restoration after his wrath.
