Today (by which I mean 'snowy day in late December') we talked about the later two thirds of The Poppy War. Rin joins the military, and stake rise as Mugen's war machine becomes more devious and dangerous. And then... Nanking happens. Well, it happened off screen, thousands of miles away, and is related to Rin weeks after the fact. Welp.
Also the last 50 pages of this book are COMPLETELY UNHINGED.
I was going to include the theme song from the Christian Bale Nanking film "The Flowers of War" as our intro, but in a rare moment of insight I realized that might be tacky. Instead, our opener and closer is "Rising Tensions" by Emily from "Rollforfantasy.com". She makes wonderful fantasy music for tabletop campaigns and other worlds.
