Scientists took a group of people into a room and they put a random phone on the table that they were sitting at.
They took a second group of people and placed them in a different room with a notepad on the table instead of the phone.
The group with the notepad reported significantly higher levels of interaction with one another versus those with the phone who reported dramatically diminished interactions in comparison. They suffered from the iPhone Effect.
The mere presence of a phone, even if it isn't yours, has been studied to show attention deficit and distractions time and time again. The crazy thing is that the phone doesn't even have to be turned on!
