Description

When was the last time that you took pride is something that was brand new to you? Perhaps it was a new vehicle, house, watch or piece of furniture.

Chances are, over time, the pride that you once took in that new object probably began to fade away.

The reason for this is because of something called hedonic adaptation.

It turns out that when good things happen in our lives, we have a spike in our appreciation for those good things. Eventually, we return to our baseline and essentially, become a little bit greedy for more or to experience that same good feeling once again.

In today's episode, Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton break down ways to combat this and how to use Sonja Lyubomirsky's research on Happiness in order to dive deeper into gratitude.
