When "The Strangers" came out in 2008, it didn't seem like the kind of movie that would lead to a TV show. With the release of "The Strangers Trilogy," three films directed by Renny Harlin that function as both a prequel and a remake of the Bryan Bertino smash, it's about to erupt into precisely that, though. In the 2008 movie, Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman played an ordinary couple who were frightened by three individuals wearing masks while staying at a rural holiday property. The lack of a reason for the dread makes it, along with its better but still good sequel "The Strangers: Prey at Night," an effective work of genre cinema.
