With nearly three decades of DJing behind him, James Patta is one of the most experienced DJs in the north of England.
A Leeds’ institution, he’s lived and breathed the dance music scene through the changing eras, as happy playing mod, indie and northern soul tunes as he is dropping old skool house, piano classics and 80s pop.
But it’s his winning blend of house, classics and disco and nu-disco edits – including his much-sought after bootleg of ‘My Old Piano’ that’s been dropped at Glitterbox gigs across the globe – that has seen him become a fixture on the club scene in the last decade. Recent residencies include Teatro @ Club Mission and his long-running 80s Love Affair and Glitterball gigs at much-loved bunker bar Distrikt, alongside regular slots for the fast-rising Moretti Club. Other big-profile guest slots include for legendary Leeds nights Back2Basics and Soak, an annual pilgrimage to Beatherder Festival and shows alongside Carl Cox, Faithless, Erick Morillo, Ralph Lawson and many more.
A real DJs DJ, able to pull out a lost classic in record time and mix it with current disco-infused house cuts, he’s grown to become a go-to DJ in the north of England, with gigs in York, Manchester, Halifax and of course his native Leeds. Which is where you’ll find him most weekends, either arms up and celebrating the good life at a gig or headphones on and ear-to-ear smile locked in behind the decks making his DJ magic happen.
