The 5 is a podcast about music where on each episode, my guest hand selects five pieces that are in whatever way influencing their artistic practice. We listen to each one and discuss why and how they stand out
My guest for episode two is Cleo Tucker, a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Los Angeles.
Cleo's band Girlpool with their collaborator Harmony Tividad has released two full length records and toured worldwide since their formation in 2013. Originally a stripped down duo with Cleo on guitar, Harmony on bass and the two singing in tandem with their signature, phenomenal vocal harmonies, Girlpool recently has developed a more filled out sound, with layered guitars, drums and synthesizers. Girlpool's latest album Powerplant, which received Pitchfork's best new album accolade and was one of their best albums of the year, came out on Anti Records in 2017. Their latest single "Picturesong," a collaboration with Devonte Hynes, was released earlier this year.
