Description

In light of the current social justice movement + Revolution for the liberation of Black American’s, I have decided to re-release some of the most impactful and enlightening conversations I have had on the podcast with Black women and men.

These are conversations that have educated and inspired listeners over the years, and my hope is that now that an even brighter light is being shone upon the issues covered in these conversations- they will continue to deepen our understanding of the current tasks at hand.

As many of you know, Jeanine Staples is a force to be reckoned with, and a woman I have called a friend and teacher for years. She was one our most talked about 2019 Ignite Your Soul Summit speakers, and the work she is doing in the world is unparalleled.

We had this conversation back in 2017, and white supremacy and white privilege were two of the many topics we covered back then, making this a really powerful discussion to bring back into the light today.

Jeanine stunned the world (and me) with her TED Talk, “How To Die Peacefully”, when she challenged the notion that humans are born, they live and then they die. No- Jeanine believes we are born and then we die a thousand tiny deaths. She claims, we can only learn to live, when we learn to die those deaths peacefully.

… and this is just what I learned before our conversation.

Dr. Jeanine Staples is the Associate Professor of Literacy and Language, African American Studies, and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Penn State University. She is the founder of “The Supreme Love Project” , a movement which seeks to embolden marginalized people to heal their souls and liberate themselves. Not to mention, she is a genius, a soul excavator, a humanist and an all around “Be Your OWN Hero”, kind of Wonder Woman.

I am beyond thrilled and honored to share this conversation with you. I just know that these words will touch you in a way that could literally shift the way you live your life, today- if you let them.

So, grab a notebook for this one, sit down, and get ready to let it all sink in to your soma (how Jeanine refers to our bodies) and your souls. I hope you find this conversation as powerful as I do.
