Got mom guilt while working in your biz? Today I’m talking with my client, Avery Young, about how to rethink the guilt, where it comes from, and her experiences as a mompreneur and lactation consultant.
There’s a BIG difference between what society tells mothers about how they “should” parent and the reality of how it really is. Y’all, the patriarchy loves making moms and parents feel bad about how they are trying to raise their families with all KINDS of impossible ideas and standards. Avery’s passion is helping moms learn how to EMPOWER themselves when it comes to caring for their babies.
She’s sharing the NUMBER ONE thing that every new parent needs to STOP doing, and here’s a hint: it has a lot to do with perfection. Perfection is one of the patriarchy’s favorite weapons, and we’re here to bust that sh*t up.

How to connect with Avery:
Avery Young is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant licensed by the state of Georgia. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and three children. She has been in private practice as a lactation consultant since 2014.
Avery has spent over two decades as an educator and as an enthusiastic supporter of families who seek to feed their babies and help them thrive, no matter what that looks like for them.
She spent the first half of her career teaching Biology to anyone who would listen, from middle school through college. She began her practice as a lactation consultant in 2014, after the birth of her second child, with the goal of helping empower women to have the resources and confidence to make decisions that were right for their families.
Her own journey into motherhood, her quest to understand the needs of her own neurodiverse family, and her inability to stop asking why, led her into a deeper study of infant reflexes, neurology, and brain plasticity. It was during this study that Avery began to understand the significance of how engaging and using reflexive patterns harnessed to foster development, starting from day one. This transformed her practice, and her ability to help parents solve their infants' feeding challenges.
When she is not working (or researching answers to her own questions), Avery enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time in nature with her family.
