There is a huge difference between being alone and feeling lonely. In this episode, I address the differences between the two, some ways to enjoy your alone time, and why being around the wrong people will create more loneliness than being solo. I will share some of what I have learned along the way on my relationship with silence and how traveling solo has probably made the biggest impact on how I feel about being alone. I have been more alone in the last two years than ever before in my life, and I also feel less feelings of loneliness than ever before.
Living a life where you enjoy you is the goal! But that is not always easy for everyone, especially when you feel like something is missing. You can enjoy having people in your life and also enjoy the times when there is no one around. Whether you are truly alone or surrounded by a ton of people, we all feel lonely from time to time. Learning to recognize those feelings and address them head on will help lead to a place where you enjoy a solo version of you.
And if you are currently experiencing overwhelming feelings of loneliness, it is time to get some professional support with those feelings. If you need help asking for those resources, please reach out to someone you love. I am not a therapist, but I am happy to help guide you to finding the right resources. I want you to be alone because you enjoy it, not because you feel it's your only option.
