Description

Frank Dixon was sworn in as the Chief of Police on Oct. 11, 2018. Prior to coming to the City of Denton, Chief Dixon was an Assistant Chief of Police in Austin, Texas. In his 23 years of service in Austin, Chief Dixon managed the South Patrol Bureau, Austin/Bergstrom International Airport, and Special Operations, which consisted of SWAT, Bomb Squad, Patrol K-9, and Air Support. Chief Dixon’s other assignments during his career included, SWAT, Homicide, K-9, Gang Suppression/Major Crimes, Narcotics, and Uniformed Patrol. He also led the department Special Response Team, who deployed to Cleveland, OH for the RNC in 2016, and the Presidential Inauguration in January 2017.

Chief Dixon is a United States Marine Corps veteran and obtained his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Lamar University. He is also a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for and the Major Cities Chiefs Association Police Executive Leadership Institute.
