Description

In this episode, I talk about my personal experience of growing up Mixed-Race, White British and Black Caribbean in 1980s/1990s Britain.  Whilst I'm now very proud of who I am it wasn't always easy for me to navigate my duel heritage.

I discuss:

Being self-aware outside of major cities

Feeling vibes that remind you that you're different

How other people's opinions impacted my sense of self

Not seeing myself represented impacted my self-confidence

Wanting to end it all.

The Curl Squad represents all things community, conversation, confidence and curls.

We discuss growing up curly, overcoming obstacles, traumas and triumphs as well as sharing a natural hair care essential or two.

I'll be introducing you to some incredibly inspiring curly creators and innovators as we discuss the natural hair community, representation, doing meaningful work and building bigger tables.
