For this month's New Ears episode, Chamber Cartel previews a track from their upcoming release The Shape Distance. This piece was composed as part of a series of collaborations between Marc Yeats and Chamber Cartel
The Shape Distance [1-7] is a set of pieces written by Marc Yeats and commissioned by Chamber Cartel. The piece is scored for two flutes, clarinet, viola, harp, piano, and percussion. All instrumental parts in the piece are unsynchronized so any moments of fortune that happen in the music are unique to that performance.
The section you'll hear on this podcast is #7 of the Shape Distance series. Chamber Cartel will perform other compositions by Marc Yeats this Saturday at Erikson Clock, a satellite location of the Goat Farm Arts Center.
