Description

Daptone Records is a funk and soul indie record label based in Brooklyn, New York, most well known for their work with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Charles Bradley. The label was founded in 2001 by Bosco Mann and Neal Sugarman, who built their studio called Daptone's House of Soul in a converted two-family home in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. They decided not to use any digital programming and instead relied on old fashioned analog recording methods, including good old studio acoustics, which thus created the very distinctive sound of Daptone Records. Enjoy!
