Raised in the South Side in Chicago, Ronald was effectively raised by his grandmother in a church where, at twelve, he became the youngest person ever accepted to their Sunday choir, yet, by his own account, he never really became a Christian until well until he was in his thirties. In this first part of a three-part conversation, we will discuss Ronald's childhood, his move to California to pursue dreams of becoming a successful singer, his experiences as a singer hired to sing with numerous church choirs around New York City and how he feels about that practice now.
